35 hours per week

Southern Area Hospice Services (SAHS) wishes to recruit an experienced professional to take on the new role of Communications Manager.  This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage internal and external communications for the Hospice in order to drive forward and support its reputation and purpose.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring maximum public awareness of the Hospice and its services as well as working closely with the Fundraising Team to co-ordinate fundraising events and campaigns to gain essential support for its work.  The development and delivery of an annual communication and PR strategy, including stakeholder engagement programme, is a key requirement. 

Candidates must have a 3rd level qualification in Communications, PR, Marketing, Business or other relevant discipline coupled with 2 years’ relevant experience OR 5 years’ relevant experience.  You will also have proven experience in creating and managing social media activity, be competent in the use of desktop publishing software, e.g. Photoshop, and possess excellent Microsoft Office skills.   An understanding of the NI communications landscape is also important.

Excellent communication skills are essential and you will also need to have a keen eye for detail with good proof reading and editing skills to ensure high quality output.  You should be able to understand and refine messages and information to produce communications and messages which are appropriate to the audience and you should be able to handle confidential information appropriately.  Strong report writing skills are also crucial.

You will need to be enthusiastic, creative, innovative and self-motivated.   A full clean driving license and access to a car are essential. 

The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Basic Disclosure through Access NI before any appointment is confirmed.
