Are you a dynamic PR professional looking to make a difference in one of the UK’s biggest charities? We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications and Engagement Manager to lead the communications output for BHF Northern Ireland.

About the role

You'll be responsible for raising the profile of BHF Northern Ireland focusing on our research funding and its impact, promoting our work, influencing local partners, shaping the charity's reputation through media, engagement events, and other communication channels. With a proven track record of finding and developing compelling stories for the media, you'll work as part of the communications team across the UK to devise and deliver regional PR strategies to promote key brand and awareness campaigns in Northern Ireland.

You will also work with local teams to deliver impactful communication strategies, meeting challenging KPIs and demonstrating significant impact which should raise the public's desire to give. 

Your local expertise will guide the way we influence and use both traditional media, digital channels and engagement opportunities. 

About you

You'll have a proven track record of finding and developing compelling stories for the media. Your local expertise will guide the way we influence and use both traditional media, digital channels and engagement opportunities. 

You'll be a self-starter with a positive 'can-do' attitude. With excellent time management skills you'll be able to work under pressure and will have excellent negotiation skills to be able to build strong relationships both internally and with external partners, including journalists.

With excellent communication skills, including knowledge of digital communications tools, you'll be IT literate and competent with Microsoft packages.

With previous experience of writing for the web you will have led media campaigns and successfully promoted and championed PR to colleagues. With understanding of media landscape across your patch you'll be able to tap into local audiences through different media outlets.
