JOB SUMMARY The Childcare Supervisor will provide daily supervision of staff team and children within Shankill Women’s Centre’s childcare facility promoting excellent care for children and parents within a safe, welcoming, nurturing environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE:                                     Childcare Supervisor (with Deputy duties)

RESPONSIBLE TO:               Board of Directors, Centre Manager, Childcare Manager

AIMS:                                     To work as part of a team in providing a stimulating and quality environment for children and contributing to the overall staff team 

                                                development within the Shankill Women’s Centre.

HOURS:                                22 Hours per week (Specific Rota)

SALARY:                              £9.50 per hour

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Childcare Supervisor will provide daily supervision of staff team and children within Shankill Women’s Centre’s childcare facility promoting excellent care for children and parents within a safe, welcoming, nurturing environment.

JOB HOURS:                          Monday 1.30pm to 5.30pm (4hrs)

                                                Tuesday 1pm to 5.30pm (4.5hrs)

                                                Wednesday 1pm to 5.30pm (4.5hrs)

                                                Thursday 1pm to 5.30pm (4.5hrs)

                                                Friday 1pm to 5.30pm (4.5hrs)

              

MAIN DUTIES:

 

  • To provide a stimulating and quality learning environment for children within the Childcare facility of the Shankill Women’s Centre.
  • Promote good practice in all aspects of work in relation to the child and her/his carer.
  • Observe and record children’s progress as part of the implementation of the High Scope curriculum.
  • In consultation with the Childcare Manager, plan and implement programmes of activities for the children.
  • Develop appropriate partnerships with parents/carers.
  • To attend regular staff meetings when required.
  • To participate in staff training when required.
  • To attend regular supervision sessions with Childcare Manager, on a monthly basis.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as may be requested from time to time by Childcare Manager and Board of directors.
  • The post holder will be required to keep confidential any information regarding the children, their families, and other staff which is learnt as part of the job. Such information must not be passed on unless in the interests of the child and then only to the child care manager. Job Specification.

 

Essential Criteria:

 

  • Childcare Level 5 Qualification.
  • At least 3 three years paid employment experience in a child care setting.
  • Ability to record and pass on information accurately.
  • Experience of planning and implementing programmes of activities for children.
  • Commitment to provide equality of opportunity for every child within the child care unit.
  • Up to date Child Protection Training.

 

Desirable Criteria:

 

  • Experience of working with the High Scope or similar programme.
  • Up to date First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience of working with children from the age of six weeks to four years.
  • At least one year experience of supervising a child care facility.
