Child Sponsorship Co-Ordinator

We are seeking to recruit a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our team. The postholder will have lead responsibility for administering and developing Abaana’s Child Sponsorship Scheme, enabling children across Uganda to attend school.

Main role:

  • On-going effective delivery of Child Sponsorship Scheme.
  • Preparing budgets and financial analysis of the Child Sponsorship Scheme.
  • Regular updating and maintenance of Child Sponsorship Database and feeder files.
  • Accurate and timely accounting for all payments received and provision of supporting data to management for all fund transfers to Uganda.
  • Speaking in Churches, Schools and Youth Groups.
  • Successful achievement of agreed targets for recruitment of new sponsors.
  • Develop and deliver promotional campaigns to encourage new child sponsors.
  • Provide prompt and effective communication and service to all child sponsors.
  • Liaise closely and effectively with Child Sponsorship team in Uganda.
  • Supporting the New Life Choir and working to maximise new sponsorships through the Tour.

 

The post holder will also be involved in:

  • Running events for promotional and/or fundraising purposes;
  • Travelling to Uganda if required, in order to fully understand all aspects of Abaana’s work, build relationships and maintain strong links with the team located in Africa;
  • Any other reasonable and related tasks as directed by the management.

 

Fundraising and Promotion – further detail

  • To take part in fundraising initiatives, as well as helping to organise exciting events and promotions.
  • To assist in preparing fundraising support materials, e.g. leaflets, flyers and posters.
  • To contact potential donors by telephone, email and/or letter and responding to enquiries.
  • To maintain donor lists and prospect for new donors.

 

Participation in the spiritual life of Abaana

  •  To attend, lead or participate in weekly staff devotionals.
  •  To be committed to Abaana’s Vision and Values.
  •  To be committed to actively working and living in accordance with Abaana's evangelical Christian beliefs.
     

Experience and qualifications:


Qualifications

Essential

  • 5 GCSE/GCE O Levels at grades A, B or C or equivalent including English Language and mathematics
  • Driving licence and access to a car for business purposes

Desirable

  • Education: Degree Hons. or Third Level Equivalent
  • Finance qualification
  • Ability to drive Abaana Shop van or similar.


Experience

Essential

  • Experience in preparing and delivering presentations to more than 30 people
  • Experience in using Microsoft office (particularly Excel).

  • Running events
  • Working in an office environment
  • Working or volunteering with a charitable organisation
  • Delivering customer service
  • Experience of third world (in particular Africa)
  • Experience in updating websites/ and social media
  • Experience of using Excel for financial/accounting purposes

  • Multimedia skills, video editing, and designing literature and brochures
  • Advanced IT skills/ICT qualification
  • Familiarity with social media platforms

  • Committed Christian with a personal relationship with God and in regular church fellowship
