Child & Family Support Worker
Location: Southern HSCT – Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon areas
Salary: £16,010 - £18,457 per annum, pro rata
Type of contract: 37.5 hours
Duration: fixed term contract until end of March 2020 (with possibility of an extension)
Closing date: Friday 3rd May at 12 noon
The Family Wellness Project is a new and exciting initiative funded by the Big Lottery under the Reaching Out to Families Programme. The project is led by MindWise in partnership with the Specialist Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) delivered by the Health Trusts as well as Aware, Parenting NI, CAUSE and Action Mental Health
The role involves:
Working in partnership to meet the emotional health & wellbeing needs identified by GP’s of children between the ages of 5 and 12, where these do not meet the threshold criteria set by the CAMHS, by supporting them and their families / carers.
Key objectives for the post:
- Maintaining a directory of local services which support mental health and wellbeing for the specific area base
- Developing and maintaining professional working relationships with all relevant organisations
- Identifying and receiving referrals by working in partnership with relevant agencies using the systems already set in place for this project
- Working in partnership with the individual children and their families to develop their Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) plan* based on the child’s and family’s needs and strengths
Experience and knowledge required:
- NVQ Level 2 or Diploma Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
- Must be able to demonstrate a minimum of 12 months’ experience of providing support to children (aged between 5 &12) or families with mental health needs either in a paid or voluntary position
OR
Demonstrate a minimum of 18 months’ experience of providing support in another formal care setting
