Business Development Lead with the Turnaround Project

ABOUT THE TURNAROUND PROJECT:

The Turnaround Project is a charity with a vision of a society where everyone who receives a prison or community sentence is empowered and provided with opportunities to address the factors that led to their offending behaviour, and to play a full and active part in their community after they have completed their sentence.

To achieve this vision, Turnaround aims:

• to work with people who are serving sentences in prison or in the community, and to help them turn around their lives and leave offending behaviour behind; and 
• to turn around the wider community, encouraging others to support people on their journey away from offending.

Our approach seeks to address as many of the factors that impact on that journey as possible. But transitional training and employment opportunities, before and after people complete their sentences, sits at the centre of what we do.

Those transitional training and employment opportunities are provided within social enterprises established and run by the Turnaround Project.  Real training and real jobs, in real enterprises.  Transitional employment is different to conventional employment, with our enterprises providing a supportive environment that recognises the particular challenges faced by many of the people we exist to support. 

Our most important bottom line is how many people we have supported to turn their lives around, but just like any other business, we need to be commercially successful – we need to sustain our income if we are to provide people with jobs.  That’s where our new Business Development Lead will play a key role.

ABOUT OUR ENTERPRISES

Turnaround runs two enterprises. 

‘Outwork’, our grounds maintenance enterprise, operates in crews of three trainees / staff working under an on-site Supervisor, delivering contracts for commercial and private clients who want us to do as good a job – or better – as any other provider. 

‘Big Loop Bikes’, our refurbished bike enterprise, collects, refurbishes and sells used bikes.

ABOUT THE JOB:

We are delighted that the Turnaround Project has now secured sufficient funding to allow us to recruit a Business Development Lead. At this exciting early stage in our development, we are looking for an exceptionally motivated and skilled person who will take the lead in developing our social enterprises into sustainable income. 

The initial focus will be on our grounds maintenance enterprise, identifying opportunities for new business and putting all of the necessary management and compliance arrangements in place to allow Outwork to compete for business in the private, public and social enterprise sectors.
