Due to a period of growth, Specialisterne NI is now recruiting 2 new board members. Having had an interim Chair, we are currently appointing a Chair. If you are passionate about improving the lives of autistic people, we would like to hear from you.

Specialisterne NI is seeking to appoint individuals to its board. Autistic people are particularly welcome to apply as Specialisterne NI seeks to represent the diverse society it serves.

Specialisterne NI is currently supporting autistic people to navigate and recover from the Coronavirus crisis. All programmes are currently fully operational online. It is our intention to move towards a mix of online and face-to-face delivery.  Specialisterne NI’s supports autistic people at various stages of their career and life journey. Current clients include autistic people from age 10 to autistic people who are retired. Our team of autism specialists support autistic people to get ready for careers and to experience wellbeing. A large part of our work involves connecting autistic people to each other through shared interests. This has helped create a dynamic, autistic community-led organisation.

Specialisterne NI forms part of the international Specialisterne network, which has worked from 2004 across 15 countries to support 1 million jobs for autistic people. Specialisterne’s Founder, Thorkil Sonne, noticed his 4-year-old autistic son was able to draw a detailed map of Europe after returning from a holiday in Europe. Thorkil wished his software testers had that ability and attention to detail and set up Specialisterne based on the concept that autistic people may have skills at a higher level than non-autistic people which would be particularly valuable for employers. https://www.ft.com/content/ba2d5706-ccf5-11e2-9efe-00144feab7de

Specialisterne was a pioneer of Autism at Work, an international movement which supports employers to naturally recruit and develop the talents of autistic people. Autism at Work clients include Microsoft, IBM, SAP, PWC.
