Belfast Hills Specialist Walks Guide

£10 per hour
Ref 20/02. £10 per hour as required To be responsible for successfully leading walks and other activities on sites across the hills with local communities.

BHP wishes to appoint a Specialist Walks Guide to join our dynamic team.

This independent and highly motivated person will be responsible for successfully leading walks and other activities on sites across the hills with local communities.  This encompasses involvement of local communities, including day centres for adults with learning disabilities, health groups, schools and other groups in the Belfast Hills, providing a range of walks with an emphasis on health and wellbeing. This is a casual post as required by BHP.  The Belfast Hills Partnership reserves the right to hold a reserve list, for a period of approximately 12 months, from this recruitment to fill similar roles which may arise.

SPECIFIC TASKS:

 

  1. To act as a guide for health and other walks for groups across a range of sites within the Belfast Hills, its hinterland and beyond.

 

  1. To prepare for these activities in terms of local knowledge, walk themes, health and safety and group capabilities.

 

  1. To liaise with group leaders in terms of arrangements and walk management.

 

  1. To record and submit numbers, attendance, incidents and any other data regarding these activities as necessary.

 

  1. To ensure all these activities are carried out in a safe and secure manner for all participants and other members of the public.

 

  1. To work with other staff and volunteers to carry out any other duties required for the effective operation of the Partnership’s walking projects.
