Befriender

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To meet with those people referred to the service who could benefit from the Befriending.

2. To spend a minimum of 2-4 hours on average per week with each person allocated to you and to undertake any activity which may be seen as building their confidence such as shopping together, home visits or other activities identified by the person

3. To accompany a disabled person on outings or activities either individually or in groups as and when required.

4. Communicate effectively and sensitively with disabled people on a one to one basis and in groups.

5. To maintain absolute integrity and confidentiality in relation to personal issues raised by local disabled people.

6. To ensure administration systems are adhered to and records are produced as required

7. To ensure the implementation of Upper Springfield Development Trust’s policies with particular regard to health and safety, child protection, vulnerable adults, confidentiality, lone worker and reporting requirements.

8. To participate in staff meetings and personal supervisory/support sessions.

9. Adopt a team approach to the successful delivery and implementation of the Action Ability Belfast befriending scheme.

10. Participate in appropriate training as directed by Action Ability Belfast programme manager and highlight own training needs relevant to post etc.

Salary: £7.83 per hour.
