Scoil na Fuiseoige provides a facility for the cultural, recreational and educational needs of the community of the Colin area, and particularly for the Irish language community.

We provide and promote:-

  • high quality early years provision;
  • educational and social activities for children from birth to 15 years;
  • education and support programmes for parents and individuals from the community;
  • social economy activity within the building;
  • cultural activities through dance, drama and music;
  • a drop-in facility and a gateway to other local services;
  • opening up the Irish Language and Culture to all sections of the community and to promote equal participation.

Purpose of role

  1. To assist in the design and delivery of high-quality Early Years Childcare Services and associated parental support programmes.
  2. To provide this service to the children of Scoil na Fuiseoige in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures and overall ethos of the organisation.
  3. To take direction from, and to support, the Childcare Supervisor in the delivery of the Childcare Services and give input to the continuous development of the quality and range of service delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  1. To assist in the design and delivery of high-quality Early Years Childcare Services and associated parental support programmes.

 

  1. To ensure the provision of:
  • A welcoming, safe, high quality, stimulating, child-centred environment;
  • A high quality Irish language environment for the children in our care
  • A varied, stimulating play, language and development programme which is age appropriate, inclusive and progressive;
  • Planned, integrated and seasonal activities which contribute to the care and overall development of the children in the Service.

 

  1. To contribute to the provision and implementation of play/language programmes ensuring continuity and progression in play and language opportunities for the child.
  2. To contribute to overall planning and development of high quality resources and programmes for parents through the medium of Irish.
  3. To promote the Irish Language and inclusive ethos of Scoil na Fuiseoige within the Childcare Services.

 

  1. To provide the Early Years Childcare Services and associated parental support programmes in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures and overall ethos of the organisation.

 

  1. Ensure compliance with statutory and good practice requirements and  contribute to the development  and implementation of Childcare and Centre policies and procedures in consultation with the Childcare Supervisor /Deputy Manager (Childcare) which include:
  • Safe Guarding;
  • Health and Safety;
  • Staff code of Conduct and Confidentiality policies;
  • Irish Language ethos;
  • Equal Opportunities/inclusion ;
  • Discipline and complaints ;
  • The protection of the environment, particularly with regard to energy conservation and resource management;
  • All other relevant policies as required.

 

  1. To proactively raise any area of concern to the Childcare Supervisor.
  2. To respond to new initiatives and requirements that will develop childcare provision and new projects e.g. Parent & Toddler, SureStart services.
  3. To  maintain and promote good practice in relation to the child and his or her parents/guardian/carers.
  4. To organize and contribute to the maintenance of a clean, well -organised, stimulating environment for the children and to undertake all reasonable duties to achieve this.

 

  1. To take direction from, and to support, the Childcare Supervisor, in the delivery of the Childcare Services and give input to the continuous development of the quality and range of service delivery.

 

  1. To attend regular staff meetings and Childcare team meetings.
  2. To attend supervision meetings and commit to appraisal meetings and other meetings and training as required.
  3. Contributing to team events and working in partnership with other staff, working towards the values and overall objectives of the Organisation.
  4. Commitment to personal learning and development especially in areas of language and childcare.
  5. To undertake any other reasonable duties and demonstrate an understanding and flexibility as may be required by Scoil na Fuiseoige to ensure an excellent level of service delivery at all times.
