 Adult Education Coordinator
Location: Belfast
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week
Contract type: Fixed term until 31st March 2020
Salary: £21,158 per annum

Can you use your skills to help us make sure we are reaching the people who need us most?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Adult Education Coordinator to join our team in Northern Ireland.  Based from our Belfast office, the post holder will have day to day responsibility for the provision of first aid learning to targeted risk audience groups and individuals identified with an increased risk of a first aid crisis. This can include carers of older people, those who support drug and alcohol addictions, and those who work with people who are injured, ill or homeless.

You will focus on delivering a programme which develops individual learner confidence and willingness to act in a crisis. Supporting you in your role will be a motivated, inspiring team of volunteers who will help with delivering dynamic and creative sessions that will focus on empowering learners.

Using your local knowledge and links, you will also develop community relationships and partnerships to support our approach and help us achieve our aim of ensuring that all those reached are better equipped to understand, cope and take action in a crisis.

If you are experienced in managing operational service delivery, staff and volunteer development, and creating new innovative and effective partnerships then this might just be the role for you!

Meet the team
One of the British Red Cross' six core aims is 'Ensuring people know what to do in a crisis'. As part of this, we want everyone in the UK to have the opportunity to learn first aid/education, and identified risk groups to have the skills and confidence to be able to cope in a crisis, so they can help themselves and others. We have two supporting educational strategies, targeted at adults and young people, to help us achieve this aim.

Through these two strands, we look to improve community resilience, and ensure that all learners we engage with are better equipped to understand, cope and take action in a crisis. Last year, over 41,000 adults were trained in Crisis Education.

Working closely with the Crisis Education manager, together you will develop and support the delivery of adult education within the area, through effective planning, monitoring, reporting, budgeting and evaluation.

Who we're looking for
We are particularly keen on hearing from candidates who have experience of facilitated learning and adapting approved content to meet learner needs.
The right person will be positive in their outlook and will support the team to deliver an excellent service.

You will have a combination of proven line management experience and excellent communication skills as well as the ability to build and foster strong relationships externally and with internal staff and volunteers.

Please note that travel will be a feature of this role, so a full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

Closing date for applications is 23:59 on Thursday 4th April 2019 with interviews to follow on Monday 15th April 2019
