We are looking to recruit a new Trustee who shares our vision, mission and values and has the ability to contribute to our strategic leadership and governance gained in a complex organisation.

There is a trustee opportunity at Action for Children, the second-largest UK children's charity supporting vulnerable children and young people across the UK.  In 2019 alone it reached 387,000 children, and in these challenging times is ambitious about doing more to protect and support children and young people.

About the role

Taking account of the range of skills and experience of our current Board Members, we are seeking an exceptional individual who has worked in Northern Ireland and understands the Northern Ireland landscape and can bring governance, HR and/or fundraising expertise to the Board.  It is essential that the trustee has a history of high-level engagement in Northern Ireland with experience in children’s social care across the statutory, community and voluntary sectors.  The trustee will also chair the Northern Ireland Committee of Action for Children and will need to be able to communicate trends and developments that impact business within Northern Ireland to the trustees of the Charity’s Board.

The Northern Ireland Committee meets four times per year.  The Board meets six times per year, with at least one of those meetings being a residential meeting.  All our meetings are currently held virtually.

We are working hard to ensure we grow our active, diverse and committed Board, to enable us as a charity to achieve our aims and ambitions for vulnerable children. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability. All appointments are be made on merit, following a fair and transparent process.

If your skills and experience are a match to what we are looking for, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please write to  [email protected] for further details, before 18th March 2021.
