Are you passionate about improving outcomes for children? Do you want to work for the largest children's charity in the UK? A charity that delivers responsive and innovative services to children, young people and families?

If so this could be your opportunity, as Barnardo's are looking to recruit a suitably qualified Social Worker to manage its Family Assessment and Family Support service across the South Eastern Trust.   Based in our Simpson Family Resource Centre in Bangor, you will lead two multi-disciplinary teams that are focused on building relationships with families in order to ensure children's needs are met.

The  Family Assessment team provides community based assessments on behalf of the Trust.  These assessments determine whether children are safe to remain within their home or return home after a period of being accommodated.

The family support team provides time limited early intervention advice and guidance to families. The work is delivered within the home and aims to reducing the families need to access Statutory childcare services. As the service operates across the greater Lisburn and Ards area you will be required to travel as part of your role.

As case responsibility spans both family support and child protection work we are looking for an person with a range of experience in family and childcare work.

Have you:

  • experience of supervising staff?
  • experience of completing formal parenting assessments and reporting within statutory decision making meetings?
  • experience of providing early intervention home based support to families in need?
  • experience of setting and managing budgets?

As you will represent Barnardo's in locality planning and family support hub meetings we are looking for a person who values working collaboratively with others.  A high degree of flexibility is required within this role given the range of work provided. If you believe you have the necessary skills and attributes for this demanding job then we would welcome your application.
