Barnardo's ADHD Post-Diagnostic Support and Intervention Service is an innovative service which was set up in September 2017 in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust area. The Service provides outreach support to families and children (6-15years) with a recent diagnosis of ADHD, delivering individual and group programmes.
Objectives of Service
The ADHD Post Diagnostic Support and Intervention Service aims to provide early intervention and support for children, young people (6-15years) and their families following the diagnosis of ADHD. The Service is delivered mainly in the family home, offering between one and three home visits, and is designed to:
- Support families and children to develop understanding of ADHD
- Provide information, advice and behavioural support to parents
- Build the emotional resilience and coping strategies of families/children
- Connect families with existing community supports
Location:
The Office Base for the service is in Magherafelt.
However, work will be carried out mainly on an outreach basis across an allocated area within the Northern Health & Social Care Trust area, primarily East Antrim (Newtownabbey/Glengormley/Carrickfergus/Larne). Contact with families will be in their own homes.
Hours: 12 or 16 hrs per week (Part time).
Project Workers will be responsible for delivering home visits flexibly across the week including evenings and weekends to meet the needs of families.
Fixed Term: Funding is fixed until 31st August 2020.
Salary: £17,316 FTE
*Starting salary is generally at the beginning of the pay band
