3354 - Assistant Project Worker - Choices for Children Home Links

Short break care (sometimes called respite care) gives young people an opportunity to have fun, share experiences and socialise outside of their home life while giving their parents or carers a brief break from caring. Our short break support includes after-school and weekend activities in the community and overnight stays for children in approved carers' homes. Home Links works in partnership with Belfast Health & Social Care Trust and provides services to families living in the greater Belfast area.

The work will take place mainly after 3.30pm on weekdays and in some cases at weekends. You will work with three children per week and you will be required to work with each child for 3 hours at a time. Sessions will be arranged on a regular weekly basis and involve enabling each child to participate in an activity they enjoy in the community, e.g. swimming, walking, shopping. You will be expected to be flexible and responsive to the needs of the children and their families. There is an option to provide agreed activities in your own home should you chose to do so: this would require your property to be approved and family members residing with you to undergo checks.
