Intercomm Ireland Ltd wish to appoint three members of staff on fixed term, part time contracts (until February 2023) to support the delivery of its’ new 'Community Engagement Project'. Start date: 1st February 2021.

The Community Engagement Project responds to new and emerging tensions across Belfast alongside new and problematic challenges as a result of internal and external dynamics affecting progress and stability. The project will deliver a number of positive outcomes and outputs, most notably and practically: A reduction in violent or other related incidents at interfaces during the lifetime of the project that are a result of, as well as contribute to, tensions between communities.

  • Increased capacity for stakeholders to work together across the city to practically monitor and respond to tensions and violence at interfaces
  • Increased capacity for activists at a local level to recognise early signs of emerging or increasing tensions and to initiate responses to them
  • Increased capacity for communities and activists to work together to develop responses to emerging issues such as community permeabilityand its impacts
  • Increased ownership at both a local and strategic level by communities and organisations of the issues and a willingness to work together to tackle the broad range of contributing factors
  • Increased understanding of the importance of providing broader support to those vulnerable at interfaces including how to refer young people and adults to other organisations and agencies
  • The development of an early warning system across Belfast to ensure that emerging tensions at interfaces can be quickly identified

The three posts are:

Project Co-Ordinator 17.5 hours per week equating to £11,730 per annum.
