Providing assistance to those who can't leave their house

21 of Conway's educational courses, including our six ESOL courses, are now provided online through Zoom.  Education and language support sessions for refugee families are also continuing, in small groups through Zoom. Ten refugee families have been provided with an IPad to join these sessions.

Coordination is continuing, with CEC, BMC and SERC tutors providing their accredited courses through Zoom sessions and learning packs have been send to our adult learners. Additional support is provided through 1-to-1 phone calls and Zoom sessions. All assessments for accredited courses follow CCEA, City & Guilds and OCR guidelines.  Staff is also exploring then possibilities of a summer programme (July/August) taking into account the new realities of social distancing. Access to internet and electronic devices to link in with school work/study is a challenge for some families and adult learners.  We are exploring options to acquire (refurbished) laptops and internet dongles. Weekly Well-being sessions are organised through Zoom and phone calls.  Coordination of volunteers is continuing and volunteers are involved in supporting vulnerable learners and others in the community through providing grocery shop, support phone calls, language learning support.

We have a small team of volunteers ready to help with doing a grocery shop in supermarket or halal shop and/or go to the chemist to collect medication and will deliver to the doorstep.

We have a call divert system in place so anyone phoning can speak to a member of staff or leave a message and a member of staff will phone them back, usually within the hour.
