STOP – Breakfast Upskilling Session

Parenting NI

Parenting NI

Cost: £20
Following it’s success in the Western Trust last year the STOP campaign is coming to Belfast!

STOP promotes both parents and practitioners to stop and think of more effective ways to deal with stressful situations before they act and potentially cause physical and emotional harm to their children.

Professionals working with children and families can be a prime influence on the attitude of parents in managing their children’s behaviour. The STOP Upskilling Session is for practitioners continued professional development, providing information on current legislation and discussing changes in attitudes towards physical punishment.

The session will refresh practitioners knowledge of children’s rights and best practice in dealing with children’s behaviour.

Practitioners will be provided with breakfast between 9am – 9:30am and will receive a range of resources following the training to use in their professional setting.

This is an introductory session which will be followed up with “Go – The Next Steps” which will include further information on alternatives to physical punishment on 6th June 2018.

To register contact Kelly Barbour on the contact details provided or visit our website.

STOP Training endorsements:

“The Western Trust fully endorses and supports the STOP campaign…  The focus should be on positive parenting and this programme does provide an insight into how any given situation or challenge can be managed in a different way”.
Kieran Downey, Director of Women & Children’s Services in the Western Health and Social Care Trust

“It’s vitally important that professionals working with families have clarity when they advise parents how to teach their children boundaries.”
