If you’re living with sight loss in or near Lisburn/ Co.Down, this confidence building course could provide the practical and emotional support you need to face the future with confidence. Held on Thursdays from 10.30am - 3.30pm over a course of six weeks, starting 1 November to 6 December.

If you’re living with sight loss this confidence building course could provide the practical and emotional support you need to face the future with confidence. (Open to anyone across Northern Ireland and the border counties of the Republic of Ireland).

Whether you’ve just been diagnosed with an eye condition affecting your sight, or you’ve experienced sight loss for a while, this course provides an opportunity to meet and connect with other people in a similar situation and will provide information, advice and practical skills for anyone who has sight loss as well as their family and friends.

Richard Craig, RNIB Confidence Building Coordinator says: “For someone newly diagnosed with sight loss, the future can seem very daunting and scary at first. But losing your sight doesn’t mean losing your independence.

Our courses are about boosting confidence, and learning new skills and techniques to come to terms with sight loss and live independently.

Friends and family are also welcome to attend as we appreciate sight loss affects all aspects of a person’s life – including those closest to them.

The course comprises of a combination of facilitated sessions and talks about what help and support is available and how it can be accessed. A range of different themes are covered including: emotional support and wellbeing, assistive technology, eye health, peer support and leisure time, getting around outside and daily living.
