This is a free, interactive and activity based one-day training programme which aims to improve health literacy understanding and skills for community leaders with a focus on increasing self-care for minor ailments. 

 

Who is the community leader training for?

It is open to anyone who works or volunteers in a community setting to support people with their health and/or social factors that influence their health.  This includes staff and volunteers in voluntary organisations, community groups, councils, health and social care and Government agencies.     

Community leader training Learning outcomes

  • Increased understanding of what health literacy is
  • Increased awareness of the impact of low health literacy on individual’s everyday lives and their ability to self-care
  • To gain knowledge and techniques that you can use in practice to help improve health literacy through your work

Please note there is a limited number of places for each training programme and booking is essential.  Refreshments will be provided. Priority will be given to individuals from community/voluntary organisations.
