The Big Table at the MAC
Arts & Business NI Conference 2018

So the word ‘Governance’ might not make your heart sing and your pulse race, but you know that an informed and involved Board can electrify an arts charity’s ability to deliver.

We have designed our 2018 conference to give you a concentrated blast of governance support.

You’ll have a chance to talk arts governance with your peers.

You’ll hear from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland.

Stephen Dunlop, Chair of the Open House Festival, will tell his views on the real challenges of leading a successful arts organisation.

There are five practical breakout sessions on: what finance questions a Board member should ask (Angela Craigan, Harbinson Mulholland), and how to use a solicitor’s services properly (Jenny Ebbage, Edwards & Co). Denise Copeland from the Developing Governance Group/NICVA will walk you through using the DIY Committee Guide Healthcheck to make The Code of Good Governance a working document (how to gather evidence based proof of good governance). James Magowan from the Association of Charitable Foundations and our Arts Manager Brona Whittaker will give real-life advice on getting your Board involved in strategic fundraising.

It’s free for A&B NI Members to attend. £45 + VAT for non-members to attend.
