My Organisation

We are an all-Ireland organisation promoting research on ageing issues and older people and have a strong focus on partnerships. In our grants programme, research must be cross-border and inter-disciplinary, should engage older people themselves and should be cross sectoral (non-profit, academic, public and private sectors). It is also research with a purpose - to improve the lives of older people - so we develop links between researchers and policy-makers in order to improve policies and services.
We act as facilitators, bringing together people with an interest in ageing research, identifying priorities and building the ageing research community in Ireland. Another role is to disseminate research on ageing and older people, especially through our website www.cardi.ie.

In January 2010 we published Illustrating Ageing in Ireland North and South: Key Facts and Figures. It is available on our website www.cardi.ie.
