Special Olympics Ulster

ATHLETES

Currently there are 92 Special Olympics Clubs within the Ulster region that train in one or more of the following Special Olympics Sports:

Alpine Skiing, Athletics, Aquatics, Badminton, Basketball, Bocce, Bowling, Equestrian, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Kayaking, Table Tennis and Motor Activities Training Programme.

Children can join Special Olympics Ulster from the age of 6 years and can take part in competition from the age of 8 years. Special Olympics Ulster do not have an upper age limit on involvement. Competition is not for everyone, so our focus is on participation and helping every athlete achieve their personal best.

VOLUNTEERS

Special Olympics Ulster would not exist today without the time, energy, commitment and enthusiasm of volunteers. To join our extraordinary team of volunteers you must be over 15 years of age and complete our volunteer registration process. Special Olympics Ulster have a wide range of volunteer opportunities available, such as:

• Volunteering as a coach
• Volunteering at a local club
• Volunteering at a sports event or competition
• Volunteering as an athlete mentor for Athlete Leadership
• Volunteering in Health Promotion or Healthy Athlete
• Volunteering to fundraise.
