Sheffield Community Transport

 Chris Dalton has worked in the passenger transport industry within Sheffield Community Transport (SCT) for 11 years. During this time he has worked as a PCV driver and Community Transport driver for a combined period of 4 years. Chris is also the Health and Safety Compliance Officer for the company and ensures that SCT is up to date with all legislation, he works closely with Retail Motor Industry Federation and the Health and Safety Executive to ensure that all working practices comply with current legislation and guidelines. Chris also conducts risk assessments for existing and potential passengers wishing to use the range of Community Transport services available within SCT.

Since 2008 he has held the position of Training Co-ordinator at SCT and is responsible for developing the Training Department at SCT.

Relevant Experience

MiDAS Chris is responsible for addressing the training needs of all SCT staff from drivers through to office-based staff. This involves delivering in-house courses and sourcing appropriate external provision. He has many years experience of delivering MiDAS and PATS courses for SCT staff and external organisations. He has trained many MiDAS members in the South Yorkshire region and recently was responsible for training all drivers and passenger assistants for Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. Chris takes great pride in the training that he delivers through MiDAS and places a great amount of emphasis on passenger safety.

D1 Training In addition to the MiDAS training, Chris also delivers DVSA D1 standard training to CT and external trainees and has had a very high first-time pass rate for candidates.

Driver CPC Sheffield Community Transport has been a Driver CPC centre since 2008 and Chris has designed and implemented the following courses:

 The Duties of a Bus Driver

 Accessible Customer Services

 Disability Awareness and Safeguarding

Chris is very passionate about the CT industry and especially training, he places an emphasis on high quality delivery of the materials and for attendees to learn in an enjoyable way. The CPC centre at SCT has gained excellent audit reports from Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training over the last 5 years.

People 1st

As a registered trainer for People 1st  Chris has delivered a variety of available courses. These include:

 World Host Customer Service

 Disability Awareness Training

 Behaviour and Safeguarding Training

Chris is also a volunteer for Dementia Friends as a Dementia Champion. During his work with Dementia Friends Chris has delivered courses for large retail companies and government departments as well as training SCT staff in being Dementia Friends.
