About us

WHO ARE OCEAN YOUTH TRUST IRELAND?

Ocean Youth Trust Ireland is an educational charity which owns and operates sail training vessels. The vessels operate under the Maritime and Coastguard Agency 'Code of Practice for Sail Training Vessels' Which regulates the vessel's construction, safety equipment and qualifications for our sea staff. Safety is of paramount importance and our staffing levels are in excess of those required by MCA and Irish Department of Marine Safety.

We own a small boat fleet and also deliver off-shore sailing across Ireland as well as linking young people into the wider European Tall Ships Experience.

WHO CAN SAIL?

If you are aged 12-25 then we hope you can sail with us. We aim to offer equality of opportunity to all young people but due to the limitation of our port facilities we cannot accommodate all types of disabilities. Please talk to our office about individual cases. Otherwise, the most important aspect is that each individual wants to be there to have fun and play a part in sailing the vessels.

OYTI operate a 'Get afloat Scheme' (GAS) where we can assist with fees. For further information on daily costs and details of the GAS, contact the OYTI office.
