MAPS is an award winning organisation formed in 2012 to look after the welfare of former members of the security forces in West Tyrone who served during the period of Operation Banner. With over 1000 members we have a track record of meeting the needs of those colleagues. The organisation was awarded the Queen's Voluntary Award in 2017 and announced a finalist in the Healthcare and Rehabilitation category of the Soldiering On Awards 2018.

MAPS mission is to promote advocate and address, where possible, the needs of ex-service personnel and their partners, who have suffered as a result of the troubles in Northern Ireland. MAPS is committed to addressing the identified needs of those physically socially emotionally or psychologically traumatized or bereaved as a result of their occupation, by ensuring specific accessible affordable services designed to meet each beneficiaries identified need.

We provide a successful drop in centre and concentrate on low level support for people who have felt alienated since discharge. Our befriending service is most important to reintergrate people back into the community and look after the health and well being of an aging population many of whom are now on their own.

Complementary therapies, courses, information classes and coffee mornings all assist in the journey from being identified, nurtured and supported to being a fully functioning member of society again.

We have seen that these simple stages are the most important for the majority people to come forward and address their needs rather than full on intervention for a few.
