Leading Governance is a full-service governance support organisation. We provide the following products and services to help you to improve your governance, develop your board team, and comply with all legal and statutory requirements.

Governance reviews

The first step in building a better board is seeing where you are now. Leading Governance can help you analyse your corporate governance, identify gaps and suggest ways of improving. We assess your governance structures and processes against recognised standards and best practice guidance. This in turn leads to a bespoke Governance Action Plan and, if required, a tailored Governance Manual.

Website membership

The Leading Governance website has a wide range of useful support materials to help you put good governance into practice quickly and easily. Membership is just £295 + VAT per year. Sign up now at www.leadinggovernance.com.

Board member planning and recruitment

Leading Governance will help you build your board team by mapping the skills your board team has against those required, developing tailored role descriptions and recruiting suitable candidates to your board.

Coaching at board level

Effective leadership is vital to good governance. Our qualified and experienced coaches provide a safe and confidential environment in which chairs, committee chairs and chief executives can receive practical help and personal support to ensure success. We have found that the outcomes from coaching include enhanced confidence, motivation and decision making.

Mediation at board level

Research has shown that healthy relationships are key to effective governance. The complexity of the governance task, and the rate of change in the external environment can put a strain on relationships among even the most experienced leaders.  Mediation offers an impartial ‘safe environment’ in which solutions can be found.

Board chairing services

We have found that, during periods of substantial change, or when there is a need to increase trust in the boardroom, bringing in an experienced interim chair to manage board meetings can provide a period of calm, during which future chairing arrangements can be developed. The resulting improvement in board cohesion is vital in order to demonstrate leadership to the staff team, and to enable the chief executive to act with confidence.

Governance facilitation

Facilitation of board thinking may include:

  • Analysis of the strategic environment
  • Identification of opportunities, including potential collaboration
  • Development of strategic priorities
  • Identification of key risks facing the organisation, and plans for mitigation
  • Board development and succession planning
  • Financial planning
