Glasgowbury

Glasgowbury is a ‘small but massive’ community and arts charity based in Draperstown, Mid Ulster. Glasgowbury was founded in 2000, officially constituted in 2003 and became a Company Limited by Guarantee with Charitable Status in 2011. Our charitable status was renewed with the Charity Commission NI in 2016. In 2017 we achieved OCN (Open College Network) Learning Centre status offering nationally recognised awards to young rural people. Managed by a Board of voluntary Directors and two full time staff members.

The overall purpose of Glasgowbury is the advancement of arts and culture in disadvantaged rural communities in Northern Ireland providing opportunities for performance, education, lifelong learning, employment, business generation and active community engagement through healthy and inclusive creative activities for people of all ages and abilities.

Glasgowbury aims to change lives, strengthen communities and nurture talent with a vision for a vibrant, thriving local arts sector that contributes to a strong, cohesive and forward looking rural community.  We promote social inclusion, educate, entertain and inspire active community engagement. We aim to ensure that poverty and social status are not barriers to participation in Glasgowbury's services.

Over the years Glasgowbury has expanded throughout the creative landscape, from the establishment of NI’s inaugural green field music festival (2000 – 2013) to where it is today, a relevant, leading rural arts organisation, delivering a host of creative and practical projects and initiatives supporting the Sectoral Development for the community of Draperstown, the people of Mid Ulster and beyond.
