Are you a budding Entrepreneur?  Do you see a problem in your area and always wanted to run a project to help fix it? Perhaps you enjoy organising events or always wanted to create an App to help the community. No matter what you passion: art, sport, environmental, movies, technology or volunteering; the Youth Star Awards can help make your idea a reality by giving you a cash award and support to help fix a problem in your community. Be a star in your community; make a change, make a difference and shine!

What are Youth Star Awards?

Youth Star Awards are jointly funded by LIVE UnLtd and Enkalon Foundation to enable you to turn your idea into a reality by funding young people directly. We also provide a package of support, including advice, training, mentoring and other services to our Award Winners to give their projects the best chance of success. For the purposes of this competition a max of £500 - £1,500 will be awarded alongside project and personal development support, throughout the duration of the award.

Competition Dates

  • Application deadline: 29 October 2012
  • Telephone Interviews:  5 – 9 November 2012 (shortlisted applicants will be contacted to provide further information via an informal telephone interview.)
  • Winners Announced: 30 November 2012
  • Celebration Event: 10 December 2012
  • Projects Commence: January 2013 – December 2013

 Basic Criteria

This competition is open to individuals aged between 11 and 21 only.  Individuals must live in the UK and all projects must take place in; and benefit the area and/or residents living within the Antrim Borough area. Clubs and organisations cannot apply; however, applications from individuals within a club/organisation setting are welcome to apply, providing the project is run separately.

Youth aged between 11 and 15 can only apply up to £500. Youth aged between 16 and 21 can apply for up to £1,500. Youth aged between 11 and 17 must have parental permission and work with an Advisor to assist in the running of the project (eg youth/club worker, parent, etc). Funds will only cover project costs and not direct salaries.  Short term and long term projects will be considered.

Application Surgery

An open surgery to answer queries on proposed projects and the application process is available on Monday 22 October 2012 from 7pm until 9pm at Starbucks, Junction One, Antrim (refreshments available).  Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
