The Understanding Communities Training, delivered by Springboard Opportunities Ltd and funded by the International Fund for Ireland, forms part of our existing Communities and Youth together programme currently being delivered to young people in East Belfast and Carrick Hill.

This training is aimed at established Youth & Community leaders and focuses on increasing contact, dialogue, sharing and integration within and between communities. 

The training will be delivered over three day residential at The Marine Court Hotel, Bangor, on a cross community basis and will consist of a number of workshops exploring the following themes:

  • What is community?

  • Symbolism as a Community

  • Boundary as a community

  • Community as a network and local social systems

  • Community norms and habits

  • Fostering community
