Opportunities to work on Fringe Benefits Theatre Company next large project, Nicholas Nickleby.
Fringe Benefits Theatre Company is participating in this year’s Ulster Bank Festival at Queens, and also in the Dickens 2012 festival.
We are producing Nicholas Nickleby which has been written and adapted by Sam McCready, well known actor/director/writer. Sam will also direct this show
We begin rehearsals in mid September, and will rehearse every evening, except Friday, plus weekends until the show opens in the Crescent arts centre on 24 October. We run there for five shows including a Saturday matinee, and then take it to the Strule and Derry playhouse on 9 and 10 November respectively.
We are keen to find a technical director for the show, and are also seeking folk with production management and stage management skill. Normally, these skills are available within the company, but this time the entire company is in the cast!
This will doubtless be an amazing opportunity for motivated individuals to add some real experience to their CV and impress at interview. Sam Me Cready is a seasoned actor/director and well known stage writer. He was a founding member of the Lyric Theatre and was its Artistic Director for a number of years. He is also professor Emeritus of Theatre Studies at Maryland University.
We are already delighted to be providing a QUB drama graduate with the opportunity to be assistant director, working alongside Sam.
We are seeking volunteers who have these skills and wish to build their portfolios. We may be able to pay expenses.
This show will receive a lot of favourable media and press attention, and will sell out. It will certainly prove to be a useful addition to a CV.
