Much is said about the importance of the involvement of doctors in the management of health and social services in Northern Ireland and indeed much work has been undertaken to ensure that doctors have both a formal and an informal role in the management of services. The Institute believes that the time has now come to recognise that this management activity has contributed significantly to the improvement of services to the population and that such endeavour has been to an excellent standard.
Overall, applicants for the Medical Manager of the Year Award will wish to demonstrate the following:
- Resource Management
- Clinical engagement
- Interaction with other stakeholders
- Attention to patient safety
- Improvement of patient satisfaction
- Improvement of staff well-being
- Progress in the development of clinical outcomes
The Institute is now inviting doctors involved in management in any aspect of the delivery of the Health Service to submit an application for the IHM Medical Manager of the Year 2012 Award.
Applications will be welcomed from doctors involved in management working in any area of Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland. This includes hospitals, Primary Care, Community, Public Health, the Independent and Charitable sectors, Occupational Health and in formal management positions.
