Life Coach Training: Experiential Coach Programme

McStravick Institute of Coaching

McStravick Institute of Coaching

The objective of this Programme is to enable individuals to achieve a high level of capability in Coaching, which can be used in Community, Voluntary, Social Services and Personal Coaching. Training commences 14th April 2015.

What the Coaching Programme will deliver

The objective of this Programme is to enable individuals to achieve a high level of capability in Coaching, which can be used in Community, Voluntary, Social Services and Personal Coaching.

Programme participants learn Coaching skills and techniques through a mix of theoretical and experiential learning.

The approach is facilitative rather than directed learning.

The Programme is based on the works of Carl Rogers and Daniel Goleman. Client autonomy and emotional intelligence underpin the learning and the way in which the Coach Trainees are facilitated throughout the programme.

Participants are individuals who are already grounded, self-aware and self-directed. Their backgrounds include Community Management, Leadership, Human Resources, Training & Development and the Service & Helping Professions. The programme enables participants to develop a Coaching methodology, and to incorporate that into their field of expertise and/or to independently provide personal, (life) coaching services.

Participants “learn by doing“(Aristotle) and by incorporating their learning in a practical way into their personal and business lives.

Benefits of the Programme

Generally, Personal Coaching is a facilitative process whereby individuals work out what they want from life and set goals for themselves in keeping with their values. Coaching is future directed with an emphasis on taking action in the present so as to realise a better future. Coaching offers individuals support, encouragement and challenges as the client realises their goals. Typical goals include:

  • Improved work/life balance
  • Greater financial control
  • Career fulfilment
  • Improved relationships
  • Greater understanding of self
  • Planned goals and fulfilment of these
  • Know how
  • Behavioural issues unearthed and resolved
  • Better communication
  • Clarification of their life’s purpose

As the individual’s life generally improves, within the above areas, the sense of well-being and satisfaction generated supports the development of a more well balanced individual and often leads to a significant positive impact on their relationships. Participants tend to spend increased amounts of time on activities that develop their personal life and career. The increased sense of well-being is motivational and frequently results in the individual helping others more.

It has become widely recognised in recent years that Personal Coaching often presents a relatively fast way to make significant life changes.

Coaching methods and techniques

The Personal and Community Coach Training is based on the works of Carl Rogers and Daniel Goleman. Client autonomy and emotional intelligence underpin the learning and the way in which the Coach Trainees are facilitated throughout the programme.

Programme participants will learn Coaching skills and techniques through a mix of theoretical and experiential learning. The approach is facilitative rather than directed learning.

How to secure a place

In order to secure a place on The Experiential Coach Programme (Personal & Community) you will be required to attend an interview with the Coach Facilitator. This will be informally held at an agreed time and place convenient to both parties. This allows you to assess whether the programme is suited to you. It also ensures the Group will be suited to you.

Almost all programme participants who have received the Coach Training in the past are currently actively coaching within their workplace or in private practice.

Support and back up provided for Programme Participants

Coaching support and guidance is on-going throughout the duration of the programme. All programme participants receive bi-monthly 1-1’s with the Coach Trainer to ensure their learning’s are reflected in their personal and business lives. Issues that need to be discussed can be raised in a confidential, safe and secure way.
