The Northern Ireland Museums Council is looking to establish an experienced, high quality pool of trainers that we can call on to deliver a variety of training courses for museum staff and volunteers in Northern Ireland.
The subject areas we are looking for relate back to the Northern Ireland Museum Policy. These are:
- Developing Audiences
- Education and Learning
- Collections Development, Care, Management and Use
- Infrastructure, Investment and Resources
As the revised Accreditation Scheme has now begun, the focus of the 2012/13 training programme will be on the Accreditation requirements. We at NIMC have deliberately kept the areas for training as wide as possible in order to attract a variety of potential training days. So even if you do not think your area of expertise easily fits into the areas listed above, we are still interested to hear from you.
At present the NIMC training programme consists of one off, one-day courses. Many of our participants are from the local museum sector. We would expect where necessary for information given to participants to reflect the needs/legal requirements/curriculum of the museum sector of Northern Ireland.
If you are interested in becoming a part of our training pool please send a CV and information on the training days you could offer, and your training costs (i.e. day rate, course rate, estimate of travel costs) to Heather McGuicken at heather.mcguicken@nimc.co.uk by Tuesday 18th July 2012.
Please note that we will keep your details on file. We will not necessarily call on all trainers to deliver courses for us. I look forward to hearing from you.
