Hearing Aid Support

Closing date is:
31 Dec 2012
Are you a hearing aid user or would you like to support those who are adapting to using a hearing aid? Our hearing aid volunteers assist hearing aid users adapt to using a hearing aid and to overcome problems as they arise.

Many people experience hearing loss (55% of the UK population aged 60 and above) and it can be an isolating and challenging experience. Hearing aids can often help but some people find them difficult to use and sadly the equipment ends up in the back of a drawer unused.

Our volunteers (many of whom use hearing aids themselves) offer friendly drop in sessions where participants can ask questions and pick up tips about getting the most out of their aids. They also offer home visits to clients who cannot travel to sessions.

This is an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of people and help them get their confidence back.

Volunteers are currently needed in all areas but especially in the Derry/Limavady, Fermanagh and Southern and Northern Trust areas.

As well as our usual induction and ongoing training, we are offering a new OCN accredited course which is starting in 2012.
