Activity Groups are for people in the early stages of dementia and their carer or friend to attend together. Each group will have a programme of recreational activities and social events that help to improve well being, and are both stimulating and enjoyable.
Activity Group Volunteers are essential to support staff and to stimulate and engage with people with dementia during groups and day activities. In this role you will ensure that group participants feel comfortable and are able to participate.
Will this role be suitable for me?
If you have an interest in volunteering to support people with dementia then we would love to hear from you! We are looking for volunteers with good listening and communication skills, the ability to display empathy and the ability to be punctual and reliable.
How will Alzheimer's Society support me?
You will receive out of pocket expenses for your volunteering. You will also be supported by a staff member and will receive training and induction relevant to the role.
Where and when do the Activity Groups take place?
Carickfergus : Thursday afternoon from 1pm - 3pm, twice a month.
Antrim: Tuesday from 1pm - 3pm, once a month
Causeway: Monday from 1pm - 3pm, once a month
