The Youth Inclusion Hub project aims to develop inclusive youth work practice for young people with disabilities in Northern Ireland .
A joint project between Mencap, Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and the Northern Ireland Deaf Youth Association (NIDYA), the Youth Inclusion Hub supports youth work providers to promote inclusion in mainstream youth clubs and activities.
The Youth Inclusion Hub offers information, advice and training for youth service providers aimed at developing good youth work practice for young people with disabilities. Other activities of the project include the creation of a youth forum, production of a quarterly newsletter and development of a website.
The inclusion of young people with disabilities into mainstream youth provision is about equality, fairness and the right to access opportunities that are available for all young people. These are core youth work values, yet the inclusion of disabled young people in mainstream activities in Northern Ireland is still rare.
The project is funded by the Youth Council for Northern Ireland.
