Vinny Hurrell presents new-look BBC NI Broadcast Appeal series Community Life

It’s all change with the BBC Northern Ireland Broadcast Appeal television programme, which now has a new name and presenter!

Now called Community Life (formerly Lifeline), the programme sees BBC Radio Ulster’s Vinny Hurrell in his first television presenting role. BBC Northern Ireland will also be doubling the number of Appeal programmes on local television, creating a year-round presence for the work of local charities and community organisations. All of this will be in addition to monthly Broadcast Appeals on BBC Radio Ulster/Foyle and an annual Christmas Appeal on local radio, television and online.

The first Community Life programme with Vinny will broadcast this Sunday, 17 April on BBC One NI at 4.15pm and will be available to view afterwards on the BBC iPlayer and at bbc.co.uk/niappeals. Each programme will feature an Appeal from a local charity together with magazine-style features and reports.

Vinny, who presents a weekly show on Monday evenings on BBC Radio Ulster, is well-known to many listeners as Stephen Nolan’s radio producer. He said: “I am really excited to be involved with this new programme. There are so many fantastic charities in Northern Ireland and this show gives us the chance to showcase some of their work. Community Life may be a short programme, but it’s packed full of great stories, people and ideas.”
