The Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF) is celebrating its 40th ruby anniversary by launching a new Mosaic Appeal to help fund the charity’s care and support services which are delivered, free of charge, at venues throughout Northern Ireland.
UCF provides support services to many thousands of local cancer patients and their families each year as well as helping adults and children reduce their risk of developing the disease. The charity has recently regionalised a number of their services so that cancer patients can benefit from these valuable services in their own community and improve their quality of life.
Joyce Savage, Head of Appeals and Marketing, UCF said “In the past 40 years UCF has changed the landscape of cancer in our local community. Cancer is no longer fearfully described as ‘The Big C’. Our tireless work and investment in world class research has advanced our understanding of cancer and it has helped develop better treatments for the disease. We’ve learnt more about how people can reduce their risk of getting cancer and we’ve increased awareness of the early signs and symptoms of the disease. Year on year we have saved lives and supported many thousands of people who have been affected by cancer. Significant advances have been made and we will continue to work to further lessen the burden of cancer for a better Northern Ireland.
“As part of our 40th anniversary celebrations you can help us increase our care service programmes in communities throughout Northern Ireland by supporting our special digital Mosaic Appeal – a quick and easy new way to support UCF online.
“Simply click on www.ulstercancerfoundation.mosaicappeal.com Follow the easy step-by-step guide to donate and reveal a mosaic tile on our special anniversary image. Each tile can be purchased for a minimum donation of £5 and you can dedicate the tile in memory or in support of a loved one who has been diagnosed with the disease. Businesses can also lend their support by purchasing a corporate tile for £100 each.
“UCF’s work is only possible due to the generosity of local people who raise almost all the £4m needed annually to provide UCF’s care and support services, free of charge, to cancer patients, carers and their family in Northern Ireland. All the money raised on UCF’s behalf is spent in Northern Ireland, helping to support local people with cancer.”
