SPINNING CYCLISTS AT SHS GROUP TAKE PART IN CHARITY CHALLENGE

A host of committed cyclists put their pedals to the metal as they spun their way through a tough fundraising challenge on Thursday 13th October. Money raised will be donated to the staff nominated charity ‘Alzheimer’s Society’.

The challenge was UK wide, with a team based in Airport Road West, Belfast and another based in Manderson House, Gloucester undertaking a virtual cycle from one office to the other. The offices are located approximately 360 miles apart. This is the second year that SHS Group has run such an ambitious fundraising challenge. Over 120 employees registered to take part across both sites.

Commenting on the challenge Arthur Richmond, Group Finance Director, SHS Group said:

We are all very committed to supporting our local community.  We recognise the impact that dementia can have on individuals, on families and on the wider community, which is one of the reasons why the SHS Group’s nominated charity is the Alzheimer’s Society. This event was a great way to create a sense of team spirit, a fun environment and ultimately improve the health and wellbeing of our colleagues. A number of prizes were presented during the day, rewarding those who went the extra mile to make the challenge a memorable occasion.”

This year the SHS Group encouraged all cyclists and supporters of the challenge to decorate a plain white or blue t-shirt using anything from flowers, lights, feathers, ribbons to bows. The person with the most creative t-shirt also received a prize.

Richard Gilliland, Senior Regional Corporate Partnership Executive, from Alzheimer’s Society  said:

“Fundraising plays a vital role and it allows us to deliver a diverse range of services to individuals who are living with dementia.  We’re delighted that so many SHS staff volunteered to take part in this fundraising event.  The SHS Group organised a similar event last year and everyone showed a great deal of enthusiasm and commitment to completing the challenge.”

The SHS Group is one of Northern Ireland’s biggest family owned food and drinks companies with its roots firmly in Belfast.
