Simple Power and Rural Support Celebrate One Year Anniversary of CSR Partnership

Wind energy company, Simple Power and local charity, Rural Support are celebrating one year of success of its corporate social responsibility partnership.

The local wind energy company has been working with the charity, which provides support for farmers and rural families through the helpline offering a listening and signposting service, to deliver its much-needed service throughout Northern Ireland. Simple Power provides financial support to the charity and participates in joint fundraising and awareness building activities throughout the farming calendar.

Simple Power Chief Executive, Philip Rainey commented: “This summer we are celebrating our partnership with Rural Support. We have had a great year with many highlights including joint celebrations for Open Farm Weekend, World Wind Day and the International Year of Family Farming. As farmers partner of choice, we are acutely aware of the difficulties facing farmers, including rising costs and decreasing farm gate prices, and believe that the charity plays a vital role in serving the farming community. We are very proud of our partnership with Rural Support and look forward to continuing our working relationship and highlighting its message throughout Northern Ireland.”

Rural Support Director, Jude McCann stated: “Over the last two years Rural Support has experienced a significant increase in the number of calls to our helpline with financial stress and farming debt being a major issue. Despite the increased demands on our services the charity continues to grow from strength to strength, with many great accomplishments as a result of our partnership with Simple Power. There is no doubt that corporate support and awareness campaigns with Simple Power have been crucial in raising our profile. For instance, our joint Christmas Hamper appeal, secured backing from over 15 leading local agri-producers and enabled us to help over 50 rural families at Christmas.”

Moving forward, Simple Power and Rural Support aim to build upon these strong results, plans are afoot for joint activities to continue into the forthcoming year, focusing on raising awareness of the importance of health and wellbeing in rural communities and farm families.

Simple Power already works in close partnership with Northern Ireland’s farming community, helping to boost farm incomes with its single wind turbine installations. In addition to its partnership with Rural Support, it actively supports the farming community in Northern Ireland including key partnerships with the Young Farmers Clubs of Ulster, Farm Safety Partnership and by supporting the annual Farming Life Awards in Northern Ireland.
