F-Rating founder Holly Tarquini will visit Cinemagic on 12th October for a Film Education workshop and screening ‘Representing Women in Film’. Holly will work with young people aged 15-25 and will be on hand to talk about the origins of F-Rating, to speak about the importance of such a classification outlet as well as to answer student questions before a screening of A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (Cert 15), a film that follows the F-Rating ethos.

The F-rating is new film classification to change who tells the stories we see on screen and thereby shift the inner narratives of audiences. Every film which answers yes to one of the following questions receives the F-rating stamp of approval!

1. Does it have a female director?

2. Is it written by a woman?

3. Is/are there complex female characters on screen who exist in their own right (and aren't simply there to support the male lead)?

The F-rating exists to shine a light on the amazing work that women are doing in film, and to encourage critics to review these films, audiences to go to them and ultimately for studios to make more of them.

The event costs £5 per student and takes place from 10.30am-1.00pm on Monday 12th October at Odyssey Cinemas, Titanic Quarter Belfast.
