Platform2 is a global volunteering scheme for 18 to 25 year olds who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford to visit a developing country and get involved with global issues of justice and poverty. It is fully-funded by the Department for International Development.
If you are between 18 and 25, have (or are eligible to have) a UK passport and are resident in the UK, apply today and you could be volunteering in India, Nepal, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa or Peru.
If you're accepted on to the programme, you will have a training day before your trip overseas; 10 weeks volunteering in one of the countries above with a team of other volunteers; then a three day residential on your return. This will include workshops and opportunities for you to figure out how you want to express your experience.
You can apply online or print off an application form to send in. Read a detailed overview of Platform2 and go to our about section where some frequently asked questions are answered.
Platform2 is for people who wouldn't otherwise get the chance to volunteer abroad, so it's fully-funded for the volunteer.
The programme includes:
- return economy flights from Heathrow;
- travel insurance;
- local food and accommodation;
- a small weekly allowance in country;
- health screening;
- a medical kit;
- all minimum required vaccinations;
- transfers to and from the airport in country and to and from the project;
- training in the UK and in country.
