PAKT Fun Day
PAKT is one of 27 groups taking part in this year’s International Fund for Ireland (IFI) Community Leadership Programme, delivered by NICVA. The PAKT project works with various families through different strands in the programme. They have a weekly Parents and Toddlers group involving pre-school age children; the core PAKT project involves mainly primary school age children and their parents twice a week at Family Club. The project is delivered in an area which has been identified by DSD as an 'Area at Risk'.
Over the past nine months, PAKT has been extremely busy taking part in free training sessions, round table events and organising and fulfilling a special project, all as part of their learning journey.
On Saturday 17 April 2010, PAKT organised a family fun day, with the £2,500 project bursary that formed part of the IFI Community Leadership Programme.
The fun day was an opportunity for local people to come together to help foster community spirit and promote cross community cohesion. The group also used it as an opportunity to recruit new members.
Held in the North Centre, Ballymena, families were able to have a fantastic day enjoying the bouncy inflatables, facepainting, hairbraiding, DJ , magician, balloon modelling, and refreshments.
The event was a big success with over 87 children and 42 parents taking part in the day’s activities.
