Advice NI is creating a website that focuses on older people's rights. We need your help to reach the older, more isolated members of our community so their voice is heard.
Advice NI is creating a website focusing on older persons' rights. It will be an essential tool for advisers in the field as well as any groups or individuals who work with older people, such as social workers or carers. Furthermore, the website will exist as a vital rights reference for the older person him/herself.
Any information that is already available online will be linked rather than the content reproduced.
The project is in its infancy and we have scheduled older person focus groups to gauge what they would like to see included and explained within the website as regards their own rights. Access to Benefits, Age NI, Age Sector Platform, CARDI, Engage with Age and Belfast City Council are already guiding us. Nevertheless, we would immediately need your advice and feedback too.
We are conscious that many older members of our community are isolated from such groups and/or have no internet experience. We would like your ideas on how we can include them in the study so that their voice too is heard.
We welcome contributors aged 50-59 as a basis for potential further study, although we are particularly interested in collecting information from those who are over 60 years of age as they are the main targets of this part of our research.
For example, I have attached a questionnaire in Word format that would collect the information we need from them to help us with our study. Once completed, it can be posted, faxed or emailed back to us using the details below. I have also provided a link to the same questionnaire that can be completed online:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/THMGQDQ
We would need to know how best we can get either method to them. The completion and return of this would mean that their opinions are included. We would be grateful for any guidance or help.
Furthermore, we will be creating a questionnaire online for you to determine what you think should be included on the older person’s rights-based website. You too will have a say and will be welcome to join focus groups and usability tests at a later stage. I will post the details soon.
Finally, could you forward this to any of your contacts who would be interested in the project and may be able to offer their help to us.
Thank you very much for your time and feel free to contact me directly with any feedback or queries.
