Newington Credit Union Young Peoples Awards are being run to regonise young people.
The awards will consist of six categories:
Young Carer
Anyone who cares for someone in anyway
Overcoming Diversity
Show how they have overcome a difficult situation to better their lives and the lives of those around them.
Community Spirit
Demonstrating an outstanding contribution to their community through volunteering, mentoring and taking part in community initiatives. Shows leadership with peers and encourages others to take part in their community.
Young Artist/Performer
Shows talent in their chosen field
(arts/music/drama/comedy)
Young Sport Person
Shows team participation and leadership qualities if a team player/ shows talent in their chosen field and commitment to developing this talent.
Young Person of the Year
This award will be given to a young person who has shown exceptional contribution to their community, school or home life.
Awards by young people
There is also an opportunity for young people to give awards to those people to give or organisations who they feel provide a fantastic service for young people, Categories are as followed.
Stay Safe Award
Initiative, organisation or person that has made the most impact to young people's safety.
Anti Bullying Award
For the Initiative, organisation or person that has proven most effective in tackling bullying and reducing the harm it causes.
Youth Worker of the Year
For the youth worker who has done the most to promote young people's personal development.
The Awards will take place in April 2010, in the Lansdowne Hotel, Belfast.
