Kinship Care NI Launch New DVD

Team Kinship Care are walking 52 miles from Derry/Londonderry to Coleraine (via Garvagh and Ballymoney) to raise awareness of kinship care and launch their new DVD 'Keeping Families Together'on the 27th and 28th October 2014.

Team Kinship Care are a group of volunteers and Friends of Kinship Care NI who have taken on yet another challenge to raise awareness of kinship care and the amazing job they do in keeping their families together.

The Community Foundation NI are funding the efforts of Kinship Care NI as they launch their DVD 'Keeping Families Together' and share with Northern Ireland the success and achievements of 3 kinship carers who are bringing up children of their extended family.

On Saturday 25th October 2014 at 10am, Team Kinship Care will set off from Ebrington Square, Derry/Londonderry on a 52 mile walk to Coleraine, via Garvagh and Ballymoney.  The walkers will arrive in Coleraine around 6pm on Sunday the 26th October 2014, covering 26 miles each day.  

The Mayor of Coleraine, George Duddy is hosting a free reception at Coleraine Borough Council on Monday 27th October 2014 from 10.30am to 12 noon and the Mayor of Derry, Brenda Stevenson is holding a reception in the afternoon of the 27th at the Guildhall in Derry/Londonderry from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.  On Tuesday 28th October 2014, the Mayor of Antrim, Brian Graham is officially launching the DVD at Antrim Borough Council from 10.30am to 12noon.

In April 2012 Team Kinship Care walked 86 miles from Derry/Londonderry to Belfast over 4 days to raise awareness of kinship care and ask for better recognition for family members who take on the care of their relative's children.
