HM Revenue and Customs – Give and take

HMRC delivers a series of Advice sessions and Business Open Days which are every bit as relevant to those of us in the voluntary and community sector who are responsible for companies, employing staff and running social economy enterprises as any the private sector. Having recently attended a one day Business Advice Open day on VAT I would recommend these sessions. The day offered a useful mix of seminars, which provided generic but up to date information on specific topics, and opportunities to speak to numerous advisors on HMRC matters.

The sessions are delivered by the HMRC Advice Team who are highly trained team of Advisors who provide a variety of free services to employers and the self-employed. They aim to help new and small and medium sized organisations understand what they need to do and also give them reassurance that the systems they have in place meet the legal requirements.

Furthermore several other government and statutory departments and agencies were represented.

Topics include: Paying your Employees; Statutory Sick pay, Employers CDROM, VAT and Online filing.
