Skills for Justice are undertaking research to assist with the implementation of the new National Occupational Standards (NOS) for legal advice and assess the demand for a new qualification for the sector.
Skills for Justice in Northern Ireland are undertaking a project which will develop an integrated training strategy for the legal advice sector in Northern Ireland. This project, which has been funded by the Department of Employment and Learning (DEL), will assist with the implementation of the new National Occupational Standards (NOS) for legal advice, and assess the demand for a new qualification for the sector.
We would like to invite all staff and volunteers from the Northern Ireland advice sector to complete this short online survey which focuses upon their training and development needs. This research will inform the development of a strategy for the implementation of the new National Occupational Standards (NOS) for the legal advice sector in Northern Ireland. The NOS can be used in a range of ways including:
- developing qualifications tailored to the needs of the Northern Ireland advice sector
- benchmarking 'in house' training programmes
- demonstrate staff competence for funding applications
- informing the content of continuing professional development (CPD) training
We are very keen to hear from staff in HR and Training Departments as well as people who give advice in areas such as:
Employment, Asylum, Criminal law, Family, Clinical negligence, Community care, Education, Immigration, Mental health, Discrimination, Disability, Personal Injury, Consumer, Housing, Money/debt, Benefits, Young people, Students and Older People
Through representation on our Project Steering Group, we are working in partnership with The Voluntary and Community Unit, Department of Social Development, The Law Society of NI and the Advice Services Alliance.
You can complete the survey by clicking here. The survey should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete and will be available until Friday, 4th September 2009. All responses will be confidential. We would be happy to forward you a copy of the research report and Integrated Training Strategy when they are published in the autumn.
If you have any queries about the project or this questionnaire, please contact the Skills for Justice project manager, Nicola Kerr on 028 9025 8028 or e mail: nicola.kerr@skillsforjustice.com.
