The Department for Employment and Learning (DEL), the Equality Commission (ECNI) and the Labour Relations Agency (LRA) are planning on holding a series of joint information seminars throughout NI, to provide voluntary and community organisations with information on migrant workers' rights.
We recognise that migrant workers, for a variety of reasons, may not be aware of their general employment rights and entitlements, their right to equality of opportunity, or what they should expect when working with recruitment agencies. We also recognise that it is often the case that migrant workers feel more comfortable engaging directly with voluntary and community organisations.
In light of this, our seminars will be designed to increase your organisation's knowledge on these issues, so that migrant workers can subsequently access information in a form and in an environment with which they are comfortable. The seminars will be conducted by experts from the LRA and ECNI, as well as DEL's recruitment agency inspectors.
At this stage, we are seeking expressions of interest. If you think your organisation would benefit from participating in such an event in the future, then please email relevant contact details to: conor.brady@delni.gov.uk, and we will be in touch with you in due course to make arrangements
